Chick-fil-A has just announced that it will donate funds to various nonprofits across the nation that are either Black-led or serve communities of color.
According to a press release, through the 2022 Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Awards grants, 34 organizations will receive a portion of the $5 million donation.
“Despite the challenges these organizations have faced in the past few years, the 2022 grant recipients have demonstrated incredible passion, perseverance, and leadership as they have continued to enact meaningful change in their communities,” Chick-fil-A, Inc. Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility Rodney Bullard said in a statement. “We are inspired by the impact these organizations have on their communities every day, from providing essential items to those affected by Hurricane Ida, to enabling access to online education for students during the pandemic. We’re honored to invest in the future of these organizations and help them grow their incredible impact.”
The Grants
The 34 lucky organizations, which were Black-led or serve communities of color, are working to address any problems that arise in their local communities. The grants will be used to help them further their efforts throughout those respective communities.
Recipients come from 19 states and 33 cities across the nation with one organization that has been named the S. Truett Cathy Honoree, an award given in honor of the late Chick-fil-A founder to the organization that encompasses his innovative and entrepreneurial spirit.
This year, Precious Lamb Preschool, a nonprofit housed in Long Beach, CA, will receive the $350,000 S. Truett Cathy Honoree grant.
Precious Lamb has been selected due to its commitment to providing free full-day, quality education, and care to children in the greater Long Beach area who are currently experiencing homelessness.
“Precious Lamb Preschool positively impacts local families every day by breaking barriers to help end the cycle of homelessness,” said John Howard, Operator of Chick-fil-A Long Beach, who nominated the nonprofit organization for a True Inspiration Awards grant in the statement. “Their work is truly inspiring, and this grant will help further their efforts to provide access to resources and support through a nurturing, whole-family approach that enables young children to thrive.”
A Community Effort
The True Inspiration Awards selection process is led by Chick-fil-A Members who cast their votes through the Chick-fil-A App. Over 500,000 votes came through the app this year to help select the regional grant recipients.
