Jerseys worn by LeBron James and his son Bronny performed exceptionally well at auction.

On June 27, 2024, Bronny James made headlines when he joined the Los Angeles Lakers, selected as the 55th overall pick in the second round of the NBA Draft, notes USC Athletics. Shortly after, he signed a four-year rookie contract worth $7.9 million guaranteed, per ESPN. This historic move placed Bronny on the same team as his legendary father, LeBron.

“Bronny is, first and foremost, a person of high character,”  Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka said, according to the NBA. “And second, he is a young man that works incredibly hard. Those are the qualities we look for in drafting players and adding to our developmental corps at the Lakers.”

Speaking to his potential, Lakers Head Coach JJ Redick commented, per Sports Illustrated:

“We view Bronny as case study No. 1. Because his base level of feel, athleticism, point-of-attack defender, shooting, passing — there’s a lot to like about his game. And as we build out our player development program holistically, he’s going to have a great opportunity to become an excellent NBA player.”

On Oct. 22, 2024, Bronny made history alongside his father during their team’s match against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The pair became the first father-son duo to play in an NBA game together.

“We’ll kind of get used to it, but it’s pretty cool. It’s pretty cool for the both of us, and especially for our family. It’s definitely a moment that I will never forget,” LeBron said, per Lakers Nation.

That memorable day also resulted in a fortunate acquisition for one sports fan. Sotheby’s recently auctioned off the game-worn jerseys of father and son. However, the auction house noted that it could not conclusively photomatch Bronny’s jersey to confirm if it was indeed worn during that game.

“Sotheby’s attributes this Bronny jersey to the second half of the 2024-2025 Kia NBA Tip-Off game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, however, due to a lack of media of Bronny without a warm-up jacket on, it is not possible to photomatch. 2024-2025 Kia NBA Tip-Off was Bronny’s ‘Rookie Debut’ game. “First Game 2D Half 10/22″ is handwritten on the jock tag,” Sotheby’s explained on its website.

The jersey along with LeBron’s were sold as a pair for $102,000, notes Bleacher Report.
