After creating a unique, Twix-powered and -inspired space for future Black technologists at AfroTech 2023, Mars Inc. returned to the conference this year ready to take things up several notches.
The interactive installation’s effect on attendees started from a vibrant layout inspired by the iconic candy’s traditional gold and red packaging, arranged in such a way that they served as an instant pick me up for anyone in the area. Within the conference hall oasis, Mars, Inc. created a number of Twix-themed stations for candy and dessert fanatics, content creators, and techies looking for inspiration.
The Creator Lab was all about connection and creativity. Attendees spent time at the Twix-inspired bracelet-making station, threading beads (in signature Twix colors) to craft fun pieces for themselves, friends, and family. The setup wasn’t just about making bracelets—it became a socializing and networking hotspot whenever attendees needed a break from the hustle and bustle on the conference floor. Whether folks were engaged in small talk or simply sharing a Twix snack break, the space brought people together in a fun and memorable way.
The Mars, Inc/TWIX activation also offered Content Creators and other AfroTech attendees some really cool ways to commemorate their time at this year’s conference, with a gold foil photo wall, giant TWIX logo and even a lifesized air filled globe.
But, we all know that in order to achieve both creativity and productivity, you need a good and consistent dose of rest. And ultimately that was the goal of the activation: to give attendees an opportunity to not only take a break, but also to think about how to routinely incorporate rest into their lives.
Considering that Gen Z has now shown the rest of the workforce just how effortlessly space can be made to prioritize self-care and whole wellness, we are simply not going back.
To help those who are just now thinking about adding that balance to their lives and careers, Mars, Inc. even asked a handful of attendees from a variety of sectors and walks of life what their personal routines include. The answers ranged from music therapy, to a mindful, extended stretch break, to the brilliantly simple practice of touching grass. You might be surprised how much some vitamin D, fresh air and a sweet treat can turn your day around.
